Morally and ethically wrongly conceptualized film

Hello readers.

Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal is such an ethically and morally wrong film.

Vignesh Sivan seemed to have lost in the middle as the film was not moving even an inch for a good number of scenes in the middle.

He couldn’t conclude this morally and ethically wrong concept and he didn’t mind concluding also. In the end, we are also lost in almost good number of scenes in the middle of the film.

He didn't mind concluding whether Vijay sethupathi is right or wrong. We didn't mind watching as we are all already tired to know who  marries whom in this film.

I am a huge movie buff. I love to watch films. Good films are always a great relaxation and entertainment to us. OTTs are huge treasures to us. You can even subscribe to one OTT and watch and enjoy the films present over there. There is a general perception that in OTTs, there are huge adult contents present over there and since there is no censor for OTT, it is going unregulated. It is true for sure. It is highly difficult to pick a good, decent and family entertainer film in OTT. Though am not having all the OTTs, am able to find many such films in the OTTs which I have. In one of the OTTs which I have, there are many films which are 100 percent adult content based films. Yes, they do make it as 16+ or 18+. But, can you release the same film in theatres? If at all, those adult films are getting released, how many such films are going to get released in theatres? Do they get released in huge numbers? Never. But here the problem arises. OTTs are creating brand values and people trust and watch them. OTTs trade people’s trust for adult content. Recently, one person from cinema circle was telling that when he spoke to cinema producer about this, the cinema producer replied, ’OTT platforms encourage adult content’’.

Kaathuvakula rendu Kaathal is one such concern to Tamil film industry. The concept of a man loving two women at the same time is a morally and ethically wrong concept. Still, the director dared to take such a film. He made all of the top stars in film industry to act in such a film. Interestingly, he makes audience to get convinced in many instances. But, at the same time, he again says that it is morally and ethically wrong through Samantha and Nayanthara. It is more of Samantha than Nayanthara. Interestingly, Samantha scores at many places than Nayanthara. In one instance, VJS says that he likes both Mohanlal and Mamooty, Rajni and Kamal and in the same way he loves both of them. He delivers the dialogue in such an awesome manner that audience get convinced in the scene. Immediately, Samantha replies that ‘’ Do you think liking Mohanlal and Mamooty is same as loving both of us’’. It is such a chanceless performance by Samantha and excellent writing by Vignesh Sivan.

But what is the concept here? Vignesh Sivan seems to be lost somewhere in the middle. The film tumbles after first half and gets back only towards the last half an hour or so. The film was dragging and dragging and never seems to move till pre-climax. Of late,Anirudh disappoints with his songs in most of his films but gathers attention and sometimes lifts the film through his background score. In this film, Anirudh disappoints with both of his BGM and songs. The song, ‘’Two Two Two’’ was just an above average song which got lifted by promos and the stars (especially Samantha and Nayanthara). The scenes which led to Two Two Two song were also good and those scenes set the stage for the song to deliver. The biggest disappointment of all is the ‘’Climax’’. The climax tries to say that VJS could not join hands with either Samantha or Nayanthara. Had the film ended there, it would have been another added disappointment? But, Vignesh Sivan carried the film brilliantly with the reference to Katrina Kaif. Had the Katrina Kaif acted, it would have been of great ending. Who knows? They might have approached her and they might not have got her to act because of call sheet issues. The film fails to conclude about VJS. Whether he has done right or wrong? As an audience, we need a convincing answer to this. Vignesh Sivan didn’t mind to narrate this. We didn’t mind to question him also as we are all already extremely tired to know who marries whom.

The conclusion is ‘’Such a poor concept’’. Vignesh Sivan visibly struggles through the middle for around one hour or so. Vignesh Sivan should better equip his content and deliver a decent, classy content. He should not just make hot selling cakes which are highly injurious to health. The film could not conclude about VJS. Whether VJS was doing right or wrong, the film couldn’t conclude. Had they said right, people would have ignored the film. Had they said wrong, this film wouldn’t have worked out as the essence of the film is lost. They left to Samantha to convey through her dialogues that VJS is wrong. Nayanthara also sometimes delivers in this stunning performance packed Samantha show. VJS convinces to the audience that he is innocent and he is one who just dances to the tunes of situations. Here, we are audience who just searched for entertainment.

In one such scene performed by VJS, Samantha and Nayanthara, VJS was cornered. Literally, they led him to the corner. VJS was expressionless in most of the scenes without giving any reaction. But, even VJS lost his cool in that scene of the film. Even we audience were cornered and we lost our cool.

Few humorous comedies worked out. Chitra Lakshmanan scores extremely well in one such scene.

Other than that, this is one of the wrongly conceptualized films. This can’t be recommended for children. There are some adult contents in the film which they have shown in promotions.

While remembering promotions, we have to remember this also. One of the reviewers were pointing out about good scenes being shown in the promotions and teasers. The teaser and all such promotional contents are really good for this film. Interestingly, they were the only good scenes making the whole film. Yes, there are a few other scenes equally good. But they are all extremely less.

Though this film is not a disaster, it fails in many instances.

Few people appreciated Vignesh Sivan and Nayanthara for giving Samantha this much huge space to act and deliver. But how the film would be without Samantha’s scenes or her performance? I would like to leave it to your imagination.

I never give any marks or ratings to any film. They are creating the film. We are just sharing our thoughts.

Writing is always awesome. I would like you readers to comment below about the contents that you would like me to write about. You can also suggest about the films that you would like me to watch and write about.

Thank You.
