Jai Bheem stands tall among all the other tamil films in the recent years.

Jai Bheem

Few days back, I saw people trending '’Jai Bheem’’ in twitter. I wondered the reasons behind it.

Normally, Tamil cinema fans trend everything. If Vijay drinks tea, it will be trended. If Rajni drinks juice, it will be debated that why he didn’t drink tea like Vijay. So, Rajni is not supporting Tamil actors.

It was about the 200th day of our classic Jai Bheem film.

A good film like Jai Bheem has to be celebrated every day.

A millionaire after watching Jai Bheem for ten times would stop loving his money and get disturbed for sure. Instead of being selfish in making money,he will start working for the society from the next day.

It is always highly disturbing to write about the controversial topic. It is the writer who will get affected either way. The creator might have done really good things but because of controversy, he will suffer very heavily. The exact thing happened with Jai Bheem also. The most surprising thing is that it is the director who should have suffered more than anyone else according to the people who said that the film is showcasing their caste in a wrong light. Interestingly, it is the actor Suriya who suffered the most. Another important aspect of the problem is that it looks like there is a mistake from director side also.

It is said by the people that Jai Bheem is degrading one community and especially their community leader is defamed in the film. But the problem is that they never listen to the common people and audience. Honestly, we don’t know whether they understand the ground reality or they are doing for publicity or they are doing for vote politics.

The very simple logic is audience might have never noticed those things. The film was going so serious and it was one of the most hard-hitting films I have ever watched in the recent years. In fact, I never watch those films if they say those films are hard hitting. But, when the whole universe is talking about Jai Bheem and in fact praising about Jai Bheem, how can we avoid it?

The film was highly hard hitting and they in fact overdosed it in many places. The brutality of the police is shown repetitively at many places. Lesser number of scenes are enough to make people believe that police are brutal and cruel towards innocent people.

It is said that film is a set property. The controversial calendar which is placed there really raises suspicion towards film makers. When this turns out to be suspicious, the name of the police officer (original name of the police officer was changed to some other name which was supposedly their community leader’s name) also turns out be suspicious.

As far as I am concerned, this seems to be really a valid point. But, my dear friends, when the film is bringing such an important social message, why do you look at such things? You could have definitely stopped at an earlier stage of controversy.

The film was talking about police brutality which is existing for decades. Why don’t you talk about that and bring reforms to solve this pressing issue?  The film creators have done really a great job. It is not an exaggeration that this type of film comes in Malayalam language and it very rarely comes in Tamil language. Then, why do you create such issues?

Apart from this, Jai bheem was rightly celebrated by the audience and Surya did a great job by acting in it. It is high time that Surya stops acting in his usual masala filled mass films. Let other actors follow him.

I am still thinking what would have happened if Jai Bheem was released in theatres instead of OTT?

Surya might have overtaken everyone else in our film industry. For now, we should stop here and appreciate Surya and his efforts towards something which most of our Tamil actors never do.

He acted in Soorarai Potru and Jai Bheem. Can you ever imagine actors like Vijay and Ajith acting in these kinds of films? I don’t think so. Vijay will never act in the biopic of himself. There is nothing to talk about Ajith. Ajith has created circle for himself which is unfortunately an imaginary circle. Though Vijay and Ajith might have acted in several society driven films, they never stand like Jai Bheem.

Jai Bheem stands tall because of the fact that Surya has surrendered himself for the film. We could see only some 10 to 15 percent of usual mass moments of Surya. When a new hero acts in such films, the film might not have reached like what it has reached today. Surya has acted in such a film and got a huge round of applause from almost everyone from journalists to people.

There might be many problems with the film. But, when the film could bring to the front the issues faced by the downtrodden and make us really disturbed, we are forced to appreciate Jai Bheem. Many scenes are highly disturbing. The fact that this film is a real story further makes us nervous. It is high time that people stop creating problems out of this film and bring some reforms for the society.

In this case, there are certain good things that have happened to the affected people. We heard affected people getting benefited both by the government and by the affluent kind hearted people.

But the root issues remain. Police brutality remain to be reformed ,as even in the recent days we could see custodial deaths. The problems faced by the poor people especially the lower caste groups of society and illiterate remain to be seen and reformed thoroughly.

People should stop shouting at the calendar and start looking at these things. While at the same time, film makers should concentrate on giving better content instead of pushing your ideals through calendar. (This applies only if the film makers have done it deliberately)

I will meet you soon.
